Novice teachers' approach to the development of English speaking skills in primary school

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá přístupem začínajících učitelů k rozvoji dovednosti mluvení v anglickém jazyce na prvním stupni základních škol. Cílem práce je prozkoumat představy, obavy a strategie učitelů v této oblasti a zhodnotit úspěšnost jejich pedagogické praxe. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na roli začínajícího učitele, pedagogické teorie a metody výuky anglického jazyka pro děti mladšího školního věku. Empirická část využívá kvalitativního výzkumu, který zahrnuje pozorování, rozhovory a dotazování se žáků. Klíčovými závěry jsou identifikace úspěšných strategií a potenciálních bariér, s nimiž se učitelé setkávají, a poskytnutí doporučení pro zlepšení výuky anglického jazyka na prvním stupni základních škol. Tato práce přispívá k podpoře začínajících učitelů a zdůrazňuje důležitost jejich profesního rozvoje v rámci nových výzev v pedagogice a výuce jazyků.

Abstract:

This master's thesis explores the approach of novice teachers to the development of speaking skills in English at the primary level of elementary schools. The aim of the thesis is to examine the perceptions, concerns, and strategies of teachers in this area and evaluate the effectiveness of their pedagogical practice. The theoretical part focuses on the roles of novice teachers, pedagogical theories, and methods of teaching English to younger students. The empirical part utilizes qualitative research, including observations, interviews, and student surveys. Key findings include the identification of successful strategies and potential barriers encountered by teachers, along with recommendations for improving English language instruction at the primary level of elementary schools. This thesis contributes to supporting novice teachers and underscores the importance of their professional development within the context of new challenges in education and language teaching.
