Selected impacts of the EU single market on the Czech economy

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá jednotným trhem EU a jeho vybranými dopady na českou ekonomiku. Cílem diplomové práce je zhodnotit dopady zapojení České republiky do jednotného trhu EU v oblasti pohybu osob včetně pohybu pracovních sil. Dílčím cílem diplomové práce je charakterizovat proces tvorby jednotného trhu EU a zhodnotit jeho současný stav. Práce je rozdělena do šesti kapitol. První dvě kapitoly představují teoretický úvod do problematiky mezinárodní ekonomické integrace a jednotného trhu EU. Třetí kapitola obsahuje vysvětlení metodiky empirické části práce. Tu tvoří čtvrtá, pátá a šestá kapitola. Čtvrtá kapitola obsahuje stručné shrnutí obecných dopadů jednotného trhu na Českou republiku a období před vstupem ČR do EU z pohledu jednotného trhu a ekonomické integrace. Pátá kapitola analyzuje zapojení ČR do volného pobytu osob a obsahuje dotazníkové šetření zaměřené na zaměstnávání občanů EU v českých firmách. Šestá kapitola shrnuje informace z empirické části a obsahuje návrhy pro firmy zaměstnávající pracovníky z EU.

Abstract:

This master's thesis focuses on the EU single market and its impacts on the Czech economy. This thesis aims to evaluate the impacts of the Czech Republic's involvement in the EU single market in regard to free movement of persons including free movement of workers. The secondary aim of the thesis is to describe the process of the EU single market's creation and to evaluate its current state. The thesis is divided into six chapters. The first two chapters focus on a theoretical introduction to international economic integration and the EU single market. The third chapter contains the methodology of the empirical part of the thesis which is made of chapters four, five, and six. The fourth chapter contains a summary of the general impacts of the EU single market on the Czech Republic and of the pre-accession period in regard to the single market and economic integration. The fifth chapter analyses the involvement of the CR in the free movement of persons and contains a conducted survey on the topic of employment of EU nationals in Czech companies. Chapter six summarises the information from the empirical part of the thesis and also contains proposals for companies employing EU workers.
