Free Trade Agreement and MERCOSUR: Where are European Interests?

Abstract:

KUNCOVÁ, M. Smlouva o volném obchodu a MERCOSUR: Kde leží evropské zájmy? Diplomová práce. Brno: Mendelova univerzita v Brně, 2021. Diplomová práce má za cíl popsat dopady smlouvy o volném obchodu mezi EU a Mercosurem na celoevropskou rovinu a identifikovat hlavní překážky vstupu smlouvy v platnost. Úvodní část obsahuje teoretické uchopení práce pomocí teorie mezinárodního obchodu, mezinárodního vyjednávání a teorie evropské integrace. Následně se práce věnuje samotné obchodní dohodě a identifikaci jednotlivých aktérů. Dále práce obsahuje analýzu dopadů obchodní dohody na EU a identifikaci problémových bodů, které slouží ke zodpovězení výzkumných otázek a dosažení hlavního cíle práce. V neposlední řadě jsou v práci analyzována jednotlivá stanoviska vybraných aktérů obchodní dohody. Z výsledků analýzy jsou následně vyvozena doporučení, která slouží k zefektivnění obchodní dohody a vyřešení problematických bodů, které mohou vést členské státy EU a Evropský parlament k odmítnutí dohody v její dosavadní podobě.

KUNCOVÁ, M. Free Trade Agreement and MERCOSUR: Where are European Interests? Thesis. Brno: Mendel University in Brno, 2021. The thesis aims to analyse the effects of the free trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur on the European landscape and to identify the main obstacles to the enforcement of the agreement. The introductory part contains a theoretical understanding of the work using the theory of international trade, international negotiations and the theory of European integration. Subsequently, the thesis discusses the details of the trade agreement and the identification of individual actors. Furthermore, the work contains an analysis of the impacts of the trade agreement on the EU and identifies problem areas, which serve to answer research questions and achieve the final objectives of the work. Lastly, the work examines the individual views of selected actors in the trade agreement. Recommendations are then derived from the results of the analysis, which serve to streamline the trade agreement and address issues that may lead EU Member States and the European Parliament to reject the agreement in its current form.
