Perspectives of Euro adoption in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá perspektivami přijetí eura v České republice. Ve své práci se věnuji historii evropské měnové integrace a to zejména Wernerově zprávě a fungování Evropského měnového systému. Popisuji vznik a fáze hospodářské a měnové unie, a také plnění konvergenčních kritérií ze strany členských států. Bakalářská práce se primárně soustředí na vyhodnocení strategie České republiky pro vstup do eurozóny a posouzení výhod a nevýhod přijetí eura a postoj veřejnosti k Evropské měnové unii na základě dostupných statistik.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the perspectives of adoption of the euro in the Czech Republic. The work deals with the European monetary integration, especially with the Werner Plan and functioning of the European Monetary System. Furthermore, the foundation and development of the economic and monetary union and performance of the convergence criteria by the member states is thoroughly described. The thesis is also focused on the evaluation of a strategy of the Czech Republic for the entrance to the euro area, on the examination of possible benefits and disadvantages of the euro adoption, and on public opinion on the European Monetary Union membership on the basis of the available statistics.
