Comparison of corporate social responsibility and sustainability reports of selected companies

Abstract:

Předmětem této bakalářské práce bylo porovnání stávajících přístupů ke konceptu společenské odpovědnosti a udržitelnosti a jejich reportingu vybranými společnostmi na českém drogistickém trhu. Téma práce bylo zvoleno v důsledku aktuálních legislativních změn v oblasti vykazování informací o udržitelnosti a společenské odpovědnosti a zároveň z důvodu sílící potřeby zmírňování projevů probíhající klimatické změny. Cílem práce bylo identifikovat nedostatky v aktuálním reportingu odpovídajících informací a získat povědomí o postavení sledovaných společností v tomto segmentu. Toho bylo dosaženo pomocí komparativní analýzy sekundárních, veřejně dostupných dat, jejíž závěry poukázaly na mnohé nedostatky v oficiálním výkaznictví společností na lokální úrovni, a to přestože většina zkoumaných subjektů se tématům udržitelnosti i CSR věnuje v rámci své obchodní strategie i v praxi.

Abstract:

The subject of this Bachelor's thesis was a comparison of current approaches to the concept of social responsibility and sustainability and their reporting by selected companies on the Czech drugstore market. The topic was selected in light of the current legislative changes in the area of sustainability reporting and the overall increase in the need for action to mitigate the severity of the ongoing climate change. The aim of the thesis was to identify gaps in the current reporting of this information and to gain an understanding of the position of the companies in this segment. This was achieved through a comparative analysis of secondary, publicly available data, the findings of which highlighted many shortcomings in the official reporting of the companies on the local level, despite the fact that the majority of the surveyed entities address both sustainability and CSR as part of their business strategy and indeed in their practical operations.
