Nursing Students' Attitudes to Death and Dying

Abstract:

Téma bakalářské práce se zabývá postoji studentů ošetřovatelství ke smrti a umírání. Hlavním výzkumným cílem mé bakalářské práce je zjistit, jak smrt a umírání ovlivňuje chování studentů ošetřovatelství a zda je možné se na setkání se smrtí a umíráním připravit ve zdravotnických zařízeních. Pro některé lidi je smrt záhadné a neznámé téma, i když je smrt součást našich životů. V teoretické části práce definuji pojem smrt a historie umírání a smrti. Také chci věnovat pozornost fázím umírání, jaké jsou jejich projevy a jaké jsou zásady komunikace v jednotlivých fázích. Praktická část zahrnuje kvantitativní zvykům, který obsahuje strukturované dotazníky. Výzkum jsem realizovala na Fakultě Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně. Respondenti byli studenti všech ročníků oboru Všeobecná sestra. Celkem bylo rozdáno 100 dotazníků, zpět bylo odevzdáno 95 a použitelných bylo 83 dotazníků. Odpovědi jsou zpracovány v praktické části bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with nursing students attitudes to death and dying. The principal aim of my bachelor thesis is to find out how death and dying influence behaviour of nursing students and whether it is possible to be prepared for the encounter with death and dying in health care facilities. For some people death is taboo, despite it is a part of our life. In the theoretical part of the thesis, I define the concept of death and the history of death and dying. In addition, I focus on stages of grief, on their signs and symptoms and on the principles of communication. The practical part of the thesis includes quantitative research which contains structured questionnaires. I have done my research at the Tomas Bata University in Zlin. The respondents were nursing students. 100 questionnaires were distributed out of which I have received 95 back. Out of the 95 questionnaires, 83 of them were usable. I analyze the responses in the practical part of the thesis.
