Expenditure structure of single mothers

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá finanční situací matek samoživitelek. Teoretická část se věnuje tématům samoživitelství, možnostem jeho vzniku a jeho riziky. Taktéž se věnuje možným důsledkům, kterými jsou chudoba a sociální vyloučení. Práce je podložena smíšeným výzkumem. Konkrétně byla pomocí kvalitativního výzkumu zkoumána struktura příjmů a výdajů domácností samoživitelek. Druhá, kvalitativní část výzkumu pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů zkoumala, jaké nefinanční příjmy a výdaje matky samoživitelky mají a jak svou situaci spojenou se samoživitelstvím vnímají. Výsledky potvrdily, že nejvyšší finanční zátěží je pro domácnosti samoživitelek bydlení, hned poté jídlo. Nejvyšším a nejnáročnějším nefinančním výdajem je pro samoživitelky jednoznačně čas, kterého pociťují nedostatek pro zajištění chodu domácnosti, péče o děti a pro finanční zajištění domácnosti v zaměstnání. Taktéž z výzkumu vyplynulo, že dotazované samoživitelky nerady prosí o jakoukoli formu pomoci. Pokud ji opravdu potřebují, jako první se obrátí na svou rodinu a přátele.

Abstract:

The submitted diploma thesis deals with the financial situation of single mothers. The theoretical part deals with the topics of single parenting, the possibilities of its origin and risks. It is also addressed of possible consequences, which are poverty and social exclusion. The work is based on mixed research. Specifically, the structure of income and expenses of single parent households was examined by using qualitative research. The second qualitative part of the research, using semi-structured interviews, examined what non-financial incomes and expenses the single mothers have and how they perceive their situation associated with single motherhood. The results confirmed that the highest financial burden for single parents is their households and immediately after that, costs for eating. The highest and the most demanding non-financial expense for single mothers is clearly the time. Single mothers realize a lack of time for household care, childcare and financial security. The research also showed that the interviewed single mothers do not like to ask for any form of help. If they really need it, they will first ask their family and friends.
