The influence of opera dramaturgy NDM on theater attendance in the last two decades

Abstract:

Tématem magisterské diplomové práce je vysledování dramaturgické linie ve stanoveném období, vypracování přehledu návštěvnické úspěšnosti Národního divadla moravskoslezského a následná komparace obou prvků. Bylo vybráno dvacetileté období, dostatečně dlouhé a obsáhlé, pro ucelenější představu vývoje a výběru repertoáru. Cílem práce je zjištění vlivu dramaturgické linie na návštěvnost a diváckou úspěšnost inscenací s možností využití poznatků do budoucna. Jelikož není návštěvnost závislá pouze na výběru konkrétního díla, bude třeba v práci vzít v potaz osobnostní kult hvězd a zasazení divadla do prostředí ostravského kulturního života. Dále je nutné pracovat s mediálním obrazem a brandem divadla. V úvodu zmíním stručný historický vývoj divadla, jež se také podílí na utváření celkového obrazu v očích návštěvníků, stejně jako mimořádné aktivity pořádané pro širokou i odbornou veřejnost. V závěru práce zhodnotím míru vlivu a dosavadní úspěšnost dramaturgické linie.

Abstract:

The theme of this master thesis is tracking dramaturgical line within the specified period, the elaboration survey of visitor success of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre and subsequent comparison of both elements. Twenty-year period was chosen sufficiently long and compresenhive for coherent concept of the development and choise of repertoire. The aim of this thesis is to determine the influence of dramaturgical line on attendance and audience success of productions with the use of knowledge for the future. Since attendance is not only dependent on the choice of a specific piece, it will need to take into consideration the personality cult of the stars and placement into the theater environment of Ostrava's cultural life. It is necessary to work with the media image and brand of theater. In the introduction, I will mention a brief historical development of theater, which is also involved in the formation of the image in the eyes of visitors, as well as special activities organized for the general public and experts. In conclusion, I evaluate the level of impact and current success of dramaturgical line.
