Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Inbound Tourism in Spain

Abstract:

Pandemie viru COVID-19 zasáhla celý svět v neočekávaném měřítku. Jednou z nejvíce zasažených oblastí bylo odvětví cestovního ruchu, které vlivem rizikové epidemiologické situace muselo být do značné míry omezeno. Španělsko je jednou ze zemí, která je na cestovním ruchu vysoce závislá, tudíž pro něj z tohoto hlediska představovala pandemie velký problém. Práce tedy hodnotí dopady pandemie COVID-19 na příjezdový cestovní ruch ve Španělsku od vypuknutí pandemie do konce roku 2021. Dílčím cílem práce je zjistit, zda ve Španělsku dochází vlivem pandemie COVID-19 ke změnám v prosazování udržitelného cestovního ruchu, který je v posledních letech velkým tématem.

Abstract:

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the entire world on an unexpected scale. One of the most affected areas was the tourism industry which had to be largely limited due to the risky epidemiological situation. Spain is one of the countries highly dependent on tourism, therefore the pandemic represented a potentially big problem for the country and its economics. This thesis evaluates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on inbound tourism in Spain since the outbreak of the pandemic until the end of 2021. The sub-goal of the thesis is to determine whether there was a change in the promotion of sustainable tourism in Spain due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has become a big topic over the last couple of years.
