Burnout Syndrome Among the Police of the Czech Republic Forces

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřená na problematiku syndromu vyhoření u uniformovaných příslušníků Policie České republiky. V teoretické části bakalářské práce je vymezen pojem ?syndrom vyhoření?, popsány příznaky, fáze, rizikové faktory podporující vznik vyhoření a protektivní faktory, které vyhoření tlumí. Další kapitoly vysvětlují odlišnosti syndromu vyhoření od jiných negativních psychických stavů a zátěžových situací, blíže vymezují profesi policisty, popisují vztah policistů ke službě a také blíže specifikují stresory a vyhoření s ohledem na policejní praxi. Možnosti prevence vyhoření jsou popsány v závěru teoretické části práce. Příklady z vlastní praxe doplňují celkový obraz dané problematiky. V praktické části bylo provedeno orientační šetření dotazníkovou metodou za účelem zmapování výskytu syndromu vyhoření u uniformovaných příslušníků Policie České republiky a zjištění stanovených souvislostí mezi vyhořením a osobnostními faktory respondentů. V závěru práce jsou prezentovány výsledky orientačního šetření, které jsou dále analyzovány.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with burnout syndrome and related issues in uniformed forces of the Police of the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, a definition of burn-out is provided and its symptoms, stages, risk/contributing factors and protective factors are described, the latter preventing or allaying burn-out. Following chapters explain how burnout differs from other negative mental states and stressful situations, provide a delineation of the police profession, describe attitudes of the members of police forces to service issues, and specify stressors and burnout in relation to field practice. Possible ways of burnout prevention are outlined in the final paragraphs of the theoretical part. Examples from author´s own field experience are provided to illustrate the case. In the practical part, data from a pilot questionnaire survey are provided. The purpose of the survey was to gather data on burnout syndrome among uniformed forces of the Police of the Czech Republic and establish the relationship between burnout and personality factors of the sample population. In the conclusion, results of the pilot study are summarized and discussed.
