The expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia after the Second World War from the former area of Moravskobudějovicko and Jemnicko

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the forced removal of the German population from Czechoslovakia after World War II, focusing on the Moravské Budějovice and Jemnice regions. It focuses on the historical context, describes the basic terminology related to the event, and discusses the causes and course of the forced removal. It informs the reader not only about the basic points of the displacement, but also gives a more detailed view of the mentioned territories. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to assess the knowledge of the population currently living in the areas covered by this thesis. What awareness and knowledge do these residents have about the event. In order to achieve the aim of the thesis, a survey about the displacement of the German minority was conducted. This research was carried out by means of a questionnaire survey which included questions concerning the historical event of the whole Czechoslovakia as well as the territory of Moravské Budějovice and Jemnice. The results of the survey were analysed and evaluated with regard to the aim of the thesis. Analysed data showed surprisingly good to sufficient knowledge of the majority of the respondents about this historical event. Based on the results of the survey, the thesis presents recommendations from the respondents on how to improve the awareness of this important event and thus contribute to the preservation of the cultural memory of the Moravské Budějovice and Jemnice region.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá odsunem německého obyvatelstva z Československa po druhé světové válce se zaměřením na oblasti Moravskobudějovicko a Jemnicko. Věnuje se historickému kontextu, popisuje základní terminologii týkající se dané události, pojednává o příčinách i průběhu odsunu. Informuje čtenáře nejen o základních bodech odsunu, ale podává také podrobnější pohled na uvedená území. Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo vyhodnotit znalosti obyvatel, kteří žijí v současné době v oblastech, kterých se tato práce týká. Jaké povědomí a znalosti mají tito obyvatelé o této události. Pro dosažení cíle mé práce byl proveden průzkum o odsunu německé menšiny. Tento průzkum byl proveden pomocí dotazníkového šetření, které obsahovalo otázky týkající se historické události jak celého Československa, tak území Moravskobudějovicka a Jemnicka. Výsledky průzkumu byly analyzovány a zhodnoceny s ohledem na cíl práce. Ukázaly překvapivě dobré až dostatečné znalosti většiny oslovených respondentů o této historické události. Na základě výsledků provedeného průzkumu jsou v práci uvedená doporučení od respondentů, jak zlepšit povědomí o této významné události a přispět tak k uchování kulturní paměti regionu Moravskobudějovicka a Jemnicka.
