Psychomotor development as a predictor of disturbed communication skills

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vztahem mezi psychomotorickým vývojem v raném dětství a výskytem narušené komunikační schopnosti. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy související s psychomotorickým a komunikačním vývojem dítěte a zaměřuje se na oblasti hrubé a jemné motoriky, percepce, koordinace a řeči v kontextu jejich vzájemných souvislostí. Empirická část je zaměřena na popis metodologie a analýzu kvantitativního výzkumného šetření. Data byla získávána pomocí dotazníku určeného rodičům dětí ve věku 5–7 let, který sledoval vybrané oblasti psychomotorického a řečového vývoje. Výzkum byl doplněn orientačním vyšetřením u vybrané podskupiny dětí, které umožnilo hlubší interpretaci získaných dat. Cílem práce bylo analyzovat vztah mezi psychomotorickým vývojem a narušenou komunikační schopností a identifikovat oblasti, ve kterých se děti s narušenou komunikační schopností odlišují od intaktní populace. Výsledky ukazují, že významnější rozdíly se objevují zejména v kvalitě motorického vývoje, reflexní aktivitě a koordinaci pohybu. V závěru jsou shrnuty hlavní výsledky výzkumu a diskutovány jejich souvislosti s teoretickými východisky práce. Práce poukazuje na význam komplexního přístupu k hodnocení vývoje dítěte a zdůrazňuje důležitost včasné identifikace rizikových faktorů narušené komunikační schopnosti.

Abstract:

Thesis focuses on the relationship between psychomotor development in early childhood and the occurrence of communication disorders. The theoretical part defines key concepts related to psychomotor and speech development, with emphasis on gross and fine motor skills, perception, coordination, and speech in the context of their interrelations. The empirical part describes the methodology and analysis of a quantitative research study. Data were collected using a questionnaire administered to parents of children aged 5–7 years, focusing on selected areas of psychomotor and speech development. The research was complemented by an additional orientational assessment conducted with a selected subgroup of children, allowing for a deeper interpretation of the collected data. The aim of the thesis was to analyse the relationship between psychomotor development and communication disorders and to identify areas in which children with communication disorders differ from typically developing peers. The results indicate that the most significant differences are found in the quality of motor development, reflex activity, and movement coordination. The conclusion summarizes the main findings and discusses them in relation to the theoretical background. The thesis highlights the importance of a comprehensive approach to child development assessment and emphasizes the need for early identification of risk factors associated with communication disorders.
