The development of the digitization of collection funds on the example of the Moravian Gallery in Brno

Abstract:

Výzkumná práce „Vývoj digitalizace sbírkových fondů na příkladu Moravské galerie v Brně” bude vztažena přímo do prostředí vybrané kulturní instituce v Brně, a to s užším zaměřením na trend digitalizování sbírkových fondů. V úvodu bude práce zaměřena na obecný úvod trendu digitalizování sbírkových předmětů, a to v širším kulturním, politickém a geografickém měřítku. Tento trend v mezinárodní kontextu bude dále zúžen na vývoj v České republice, a na to, jestli jsou sledovány evropské trendy a strategie, s hlavním zaměřením na to, jak digitalizace probíhá v českých kulturních institucích a jak do ní zasahuje kulturní politika státu. Vývoj digitalizace ve vývojové perspektivě bude popsán v Moravské galerii. Pro tuto část budou stěžejní data získaná v prostředí Moravské galerie. Jako zdroje dat budou použity polostrukturované rozhovory se zaměstnanci a archiv. Získaná data budou sloužit pro paralelní srovnávána s mezinárodními trendy i s dalšími českými sbírkotvornými institucemi. Cílem práce je na základě těchto dat nejen lépe porozumět trendu digitalizace sbírkových fondů ve vybrané kulturní instituci, přiblížit tento dlouhodobý proces ve vývojové a politické perspektivě, ale také zhodnotit postupy, které tato instituce zvolila.

Abstract:

The research work "Development of digitization of collection funds on the example of the Moravian Gallery in Brno" will be related directly to the environment of selected cultural institutions in Brno, with a narrower focus on the trend of digitization of collection funds. In the beginning, the work will be focused on a general introduction of the trend of digitalization of collection items, namely on a broader cultural, political, and geographical scale. This trend in the international context will be further narrowed down to developments in the Czech Republic, and whether European trends and strategies are followed. With the main focus on how digitization takes place in Czech cultural institutions and how the state's cultural policy interferes with it. The development of digitization in a developmental perspective will be described in the Moravian Gallery. For this part, the key data will be obtained in the environment of the Moravian Gallery. Semi-structured interviews with employees and the archive will be added as data sources. The obtained data will be used for parallel comparison with international trends and with other Czech collection-creating institutions. Based on these data, the aim of the work is not only to better understand the trend of digitization of collection funds in selected cultural institutions, to approach this long-term process in a developmental and political perspective, but also to evaluate the procedures that this institution has chosen.
