The use of ICT in ELT at secondary schools

Abstract:

The master thesis focuses on the Information and communications technologies (ICT) and its use at secondary schools in English language teaching. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical part. The first part focuses on the traditional and modern approach to teaching, it describes the current situation in the Czech Republic with regard to ICT and possible advantages as well as disadvantages of the individual ICT are characterized. The theoretical part also focuses on the role of a teacher, it describes the possible barriers of ICT implementation and it discusses the issue of digital competencies. The theoretical part is followed by practical part which states the research questions and it describes the methodology of the qualitative research. Based on the observation of the lessons, analysis of the interviews with teachers and the assessment of TET-SAT tool, the findings are presented.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na informační a komunikační technologie a na jejich využití na středních školách ve výuce angličtiny. Práce je rozdělená na část teoretickou a část praktickou. První část práce definuje tradiční i moderní přístup výuky, popisuje současnou situaci v České republice a shrnuje jak klady a zápory jednotlivých prostředků ICT. Teoretická část také pojednává o vztahu učitel - ICT, popisuje možné bariéry implementace a zabývá se nutnými kompetencemi pro zavádění ICT prostředků do výuky. Praktická část stanovuje výzkumné otázky, metody kvalitativního výzkumu a popisuje realizaci výzkumného šetření. Dále jsou předloženy výsledky výzkumu na základě vyhodnocení rozhovorů s učiteli, observace výuky a šetření pomocí TET-SAT.
