Analysis of Teaching "Realia" of English Speaking Countries in Czech Elementary Schools

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the teaching of ?Realia? of English speaking countries in Czech Elementary Schools and is divided into two major units. The theoretical part generally gives background information about realia teaching, it describes its various aspects, for instance responsibilities of the teacher and difficulties that may arise. Furthermore, the framework educational plan for Elementary schools is observed. The research unit analyses results and findings of the questionnaire on the base of which a research among Elementary school pupils of the 8th and 9th classes was worked out. The results of the Elementary Schools are then compared with the results of the Grammar School. In the framework of a reserch study, four hypotheses were determined. In addition, materials for realia teaching are observed in this part of the thesis.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá výukou reálií anglicky mluvících zemí na českých základních školách a je rozdělena do dvou hlavních celků. Teoretická část podává podkladové informace o výuce reálií v obecném měřítku, popisuje různé aspekty výuky reálií, například obecnou situaci v České republice ve vztahu k reáliím, povinnosti učitele a těžkosti, které se mohou při výuce objevit. Kromě toho je zde také nahlédnuto do oficiálního rámcového plánu pro české základní školy. Výzkumná část analyzuje výsledky dotazníku, na jehož základě byl proveden výzkum mezi žáky 8. a 9. tříd základních škol. Dochází zde ke srovnání výsledků studentů gymnázia s výsledky žáků základních škol. V rámci výzkumu byly stanoveny čtyři hypotézy. Dále jsou pak v této části bakalářské práce zmíněny materiály používané k výuce reálií.
