The Comparison of Creative Thinking Between Pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties and Intact Pupils Attending Elementary Schools in Prague

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na zjišťování míry kreativity žáků se specifickými poruchami učení v porovnání s žáky, jež specifickými poruchami učení netrpí. Teoretická část je rozdělena na tři oblasti zaměřující se na specifické poruchy učení, psychická vývoj a kreativitu. Empirická část se poté zaměřuje na samostatný výzkum. Šetření se zúčastnily tři vybrané školy, jež celkem poskytly 169 respondentů, z nichž 80 žáků mělo diagnostikovanou specifickou poruchou učení a 89 žáků bylo v této oblasti intaktních. Druhá zmíněná skupina tvořila kontrolní skupinu pro porovnání. Všichni respondenti navštěvovali první stupeň základní školy. Posouzení úrovně tvořivého myšlení proběhlo na základě Urbanova figurálního testu tvořivého myšlení, jehož výsledky byly zaznamenány do excelové tabulky. Poté došlo na základě induktivní analýzy, při které byl využit Mann-Whitney test a též Parsonův-Chí2 k objasnění hypotéz. Ty se zaměřovaly zejména na porovnání výkonů žáků se specifickými poruchami učení a jejich intaktních vrstevníků v Urbanově figurálním testu tvořivého myšlení. Také došlo k objasnění vlivu pohlaví na tento výkon. V neposlední řadě jsme porovnali výkony v testu a retestu u všech zúčastněných respondentů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with determining the level of creativity of students with specific learning disabilities in comparison with their intact peers. The theoretical part is divided into three areas focusing on specific learning disabilities, mental development and creativity. The empirical part is focused on the research itself. Three selected schools took part in the survey, providing a total of 169 respondents, of which 80 pupils were diagnosed with a specific learning disability and 89 pupils were intact in this area. The latter group was used for the purpose of comparison. All respondents were enrolled in the first stage of primary school. The assessment of the level of creative thinking was based on Urban's figural test of creative thinking. The results were recorded in an Excel spreadsheet. The hypotheses were then clarified on the basis of inductive analysis using the Mann-Whitney test and Parson-Chi2. The hypotheses were focused on comparing the results of students with specific learning disabilities and their intact peers in Urban's figural test of creative thinking. The influence of gender on performance has also been clarified. Last but not least, we compared the levels of performance in the testing and retesting of all participating respondents.
