Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá misijní činností apoštola Pavla ve městě Filipy, jak je zachycena ve Skutcích apoštolů (Sk 16,11-40). Cílem práce je exegeticky a teologicky analyzovat tento text a zasadit jej do širšího historického, kulturního a náboženského kontextu římské kolonie na makedonské půdě. Pozornost je věnována nejen samotnému biblickému vyprávění, ale také otázce jeho teologického záměru a interpretace v rámci knihy Skutků apoštolů. Práce nejprve představuje stav současného bádání a upozorňuje na rozdíly mezi obrazem apoštola Pavla ve Skutcích apoštolů a v jeho autentických listech. Následně se zaměřuje na literární a teologický charakter Skutků jako celku a na specifika města Filipy v 1. století po Kristu. Jádrem práce je rozbor jednotlivých epizod Pavlovy misie ve Filipech, který ukazuje rozmanitost misijních situací, působení Ducha svatého a význam utrpení v misijním kontextu. Závěrečná část práce poukazuje na teologický význam filipské misie jako paradigmatického modelu raně křesťanské evangelizace v kulturně pluralitním prostředí. Pavlovo působení ve Filipech je chápáno jako výraz misijní identity církve, která se formuje skrze hlásání evangelia, svědectví života a zakládání konkrétních společenství víry.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the missionary activity of the Apostle Paul in the city of Philippi as narrated in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 16:11-40). The aim of the thesis is to provide an exegetical and theological analysis of this passage and to situate it within the broader historical, cultural, and religious context of a Roman colony in Macedonia. Special attention is paid to the theological intention of the Lucan narrative and its role within the overall structure of the Acts of the Apostles. The thesis first outlines the current state of research, highlighting the differences between the portrayal of Paul in Acts and in his authentic letters. It then examines the literary and theological character of Acts as a whole and presents the historical background of Philippi in the first century CE. The core of the thesis consists of a detailed analysis of the key episodes of Paul's mission in Philippi, demonstrating the diversity of missionary encounters, the guiding role of the Holy Spirit, and the theological significance of suffering within the missionary process. In conclusion, the thesis interprets the Philippian mission as a paradigmatic example of early Christian evangelization in a culturally pluralistic environment. Paul's activity in Philippi is presented as an expression of the missionary identity of the early Church, shaped by the proclamation of the Gospel, personal transformation, and the formation of concrete Christian communities.
