Attitudes of college students to children from childrens homes

Abstract:

Závěrečná práce se zaměřila na rozdíly v postojích studentů humanitních a nehumanitních oborů vůči dětem z dětských domovů. V teoretické části byly popsány charakteristiky dětí a jejich vývoje, dále se tato část zaměřila na možnosti ústavní a ochranné výchovy a náhradní rodinné výchovy, popis deprivace, sociálního znevýhodnění, pojmů předsudek a stereotyp, teorii etiketizace, diskriminaci a také náročné životní situace, do kterých se tyto děti mohou dostat v průběhu svého života. Nakonec se tato část zabývala možnými reakcemi na zátěžové situace a odolností vůči těmto situacím. V praktické části práce zkoumala pomocí kvantitativního výzkumu znalosti, a na základě těchto znalostí postoje studentů humanitních a nehumanitních oborů vůči dětem z dětských domovů. Pro účely výzkumu byl distribuován dotazník, který byl poté vyhodnocen a porovnán s předem stanovenými hypotézami. Na základě porovnání byly hypotézy potvrzeny, nebo vyvráceny a byly vyvozeny patřičné závěry.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis was focused on differences in attitudes of students of humanitarian and nonhumanitarian fields of study about children growing up in children´s homes. Theoretical part focused on characterization of children and their development, it also focused on possibilities of alternative forms of nurturing, description of deprivation, social disadvantages, concepts of prejudice and stereotype, labelling theory, discrimination a also demanding life situations which children can get themselves into throughout their life. In the end of this part the thesis focused on possible reactions on the demanding life situations and resilience against these situations. The practical part of this paper focused on research which used quantitative method to find out what knowledge and attitude based on this knowledge have students of humanitarian and nonhumanitarian specializations about the children from children´s homes. A questionaire was sent for purpose of this thesis, this questionaire was then evaulated and compared with hypotheses that were stated earlier. Based on the comparison, the hypotheses were confirmed or disproved and appropriate conclusitions were made.
