Relationship between attribution style in the concept of Locus of Control and subjectively perceived load in the context of overtraining syndrome in floorball players

Abstract:

Tato práce si kladla za cíl zanalyzovat vztah mezi atribučním stylem v pojetí Locus of Control a mírou subjektivně vnímané zátěže v kontextu syndromu přetrénování. Danému tématu doposud nebyla věnována adekvátní míra pozornosti, ačkoli atribuční procesy představují nedílnou součást každodenního života promítající se taktéž do sportovních výkonů. Pro účel zmapování vztahu mezi atribučním stylem v pojetí Locus of Control a mírou subjektivně vnímané zátěže v kontextu syndromu přetrénování bylo užito kvantitativního výzkumného designu s aplikací jednorázového dotazníkového šetření. Míra subjektivně vnímané zátěže v kontextu syndromu přetrénování byla zachycena pomocí zkrácené verze The Sport Fan Motivation metody. K zjištění příslušnosti k jednotlivým atribučním stylům v pojetí Locus of Control bylo užito zkrácené verze Rotter’s Internal – External Scale. Výzkum byl proveden na mužských florbalových hráčích aktivně se účastnících předních florbalových soutěží v České republice. Výsledky prokázaly existenci vztahu mezi atribučním stylem v pojetí Locus of Control a mírou subjektivně vnímané zátěže v kontextu syndromu přetrénování. Z této skutečnosti lze profitovat v praktické sféře sportovního odvětví, kdy je možné zharmonizovat návyky hráčů týkající se atribučních strategií a tréninkové jednotky pro zajištění lepší výkonnosti a případné prevence možného přetrénování.

Abstract:

The aim of this work was to analyze the relationship between the attribution style in the concept of Locus of Control and the degree of subjectively perceived load in terms of overtraining syndrome. This topic has not been given an adequate level of attention, although the implementation of attribution processes is an essential part of everyday life and is therefore reflected in sports performances. As the main method of mapping the relationship between the attribution style in the Locus of Control concept and the degree of subjectively perceived burden in the context of the overtraining syndrome, a quantitative research design with a one-off questionnaire survey application was used. The degree of subjectively perceived load in the context of the overtraining syndrome was analyzed using an abbreviated version of The Sport Fan Motivation. An abbreviated version of Rotter's Internal - External Scale was used to determine affiliation to individual attribution styles in the Locus of Control concept. The main subject of this research were floorball players who actively participate in leading floorball matches in the Czech Republic. The results proved the existence of a relationship between the attribution style in the Locus of Control concept and the degree of subjectively perceived burden in the context of the overtraining syndrome. These findings can be useful where it is possible to harmonize players' habits in terms of attribution strategies and training units to ensure better performance and also to avoid possible overtraining.
