The Influence of French upon the Development of English Lexicon

Práce mapuje historické vlivy románských jazyků na angličtinu, přičemž se zaměřuje zejména na působení francouzštiny a její vliv na podobu moderního anglického lexika. Porovnává jak současnou podobu obou jazyků, tak jejich vývoj, a to s důrazem na starší období: v případě angličtiny po normanské invazi, v případě francouzštiny před ní. The thesis gives a general knowledge of historical influences of Romance languages upon English while emphasizes the role of French and its importance in the contemporary character of English lexicon.
