Metacognitive skills of college students in relation to their learning styles

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou učebních stylů a metakognitivních schopností studentů vysokých škol. V teoretické části jsou v samostatných kapitolách rozebrány pojmy související s metakognicí, učením a učebními styly. Prozkoumána je i otázka efektivního učení. V poslední teoretické kapitole této práce jsou prezentovány výsledky zahraničních studií zkoumají taktéž problematiku metakognice a učebních stylů. Cílem výzkumné části je zjistit souvislost mezi úrovní metakognitivních schopností a učebním stylem vysokoškolských studentů. Jako výzkumný nástroj byly použity dva dotazníky, jeden zjišťuje preferovaný učební styl a druhý měří úroveň metakognitivních schopností, jejíž výsledky jsou podrobeny statistickému zpracování v závěrečné části práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the learning styles and metacognitive skills of college students. In the theoretical part, every chapter explores one of the terms related to metacognition, learning, and learning styles. Another chapter discusses efficient learning. The last theoretical chapter presents foreign papers researching the same topic of metacognition and learning styles. The goal of the research part of this thesis is to find the relation between the level of metacognitive skills of college students and their learning styles. The research uses two surveys, the first one to discover the learning style and the second to measure the metacognitive skills. The results of the surveys are a subject of statistical examination in the final part of this thesis.
