The Great Britain and the turning point of the war in North Africa in 1942-1943

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje především na oblast severní Afriky v rozmezí let 1942-1943, kde se věnuje zejména událostem, které zapříčinily, že koncem roku 1942 Britové a následně i Spojenci opět převzali iniciativu. Cílem této práce je na základě odborné literatury popsat problémy, se kterými se britské síly musely vypořádat při ústupových akcích proti Rommelovým Afrikakorps a při protiakcích proti nim. V prvé řadě se student zaměří zejména na ústupové akce Britů, a to především od akcí, díky nimž se Rommel v polovině roku 1942 dostal přes britská obranná postavení až k pozicím u El Alameinu. Poté se bude student věnovat britským obranným akcím v první bitvě u El Alameinu a následně se zaměří na události druhé bitvy u El Alameinu na konci roku 1942. Student se také zaměří na následný průběh války v severní Africe po hlavním obratu až po její úplný konec.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused mainly on the area of North Africa between years 1942-1943, where it deals especially with events that caused the British and Allies to take over the initiative again in late 1942. The aim of this work is to describe, on the basis of the scientific literature, the problems that the British and Allied forces had to deal with during the retreat actions against Rommel's Afrika Korps and also during the counteractions against them. After that the student will devote himself to British defensive actions in the First Battle of El Alamein, and then he will focus to the events of the Second Battle of El Alamain at the end of 1942. The student will be also focused on continuing process of the war in North Africa after the main turning point till the very end.
