The Attitude of Employees of The Child's Social and Legal Protection Institutions Regarding the Aspect of Power when Working with Families

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá hledáním odpovědi na hlavní výzkumnou otázku, která zní: Jaký je postoj sociálních pracovníků orgánu sociálně-právní ochrany dětí k aspektu moci při práci s rodinami? Cílem práce je prozkoumat, jak sami sociální pracovníci vnímají a prožívají svoji moc a také jak s ní pracují. Za tímto účelem byl koncipován a realizován kvalitativní výzkum, který přinesl data, pomocí jejichž analýzy a porovnáním s odbornou literaturou byla zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka. Práce se skládá ze tří hlavních částí. Teoretická část je věnována vysvětlení pojmů, obsažených ve výzkumné otázce, a popisem dalších konceptů a teorií, které souvisejí s mocí sociálních pracovníků. Metodická část obsahuje popis pojmů souvisejících s návrhem výzkumu, objasňuje operacionalizaci a výstavbu výzkumu a představuje jeho samotnou realizaci. V interpretační části práce je pak obsažena analýza dat získaných z rozhovorů a interpretace zjištěných skutečností. Na tomto základě je v závěru práce zodpovězena hlavní výzkumná otázka. Výzkum přinesl zjištění, že lze pracovníky rozdělit do tří skupin podle toho, jak vnímají vlastní moc. Pracovníci tuto svoji moc buď nijak zvláště neprožívají, nebo se prožívání moci pojí s pocity zodpovědnosti a těžkostmi v rozhodování. Dělení pracovníků se z hlediska jednání stírá, což je dáno tím, že pracovníci v zásadě upřednostňují zvykové a intuitivní řešení případů s rodinou. U pracovníků, kteří moc nereflektují je toto přirozené, a pracovníci, kteří moc reflektují, tak činí z důvodu, aby zvládali naplnit požadavky prostředí navzdory náročnosti jejich práce a nedostatku času na jednotlivé případy práce s rodinou.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with finding the answer to the main question, which is: What is the attitude of social workers (the authority of social and legal protection of children) to the aspect of power when working with families? The aim of this thesis is to explore how social workers themselves perceive and experience their power and how to they work with it. To this end, qualitative research was realized. The analysis of this research was confronted with professional literature and used as the answer for the main research question of this thesis. The work consists of three main parts. The theoretical part explains the concepts contained in the research question and a description of the other concepts and theories related to the power of social workers. The methodological part describes the concepts related to the design. It explains the operationalization and the development of the research and represents its actual implementation. In the interpretation part of the work the analysis of data is included. It was obtained from interviews and the interpretation of the findings. On this basis the main research question is answered in the conclusion of this thesis. The research revealed that the workers may be divided into three groups according to how they perceive their own power. Workers either don’t particularly experience this, or they experience this feeling of power combined with a sense of responsibility and difficulty in decision making. Dividing the workers in terms of negotiations is blurred, which is caused by the fact that workers in principle prefer customary and intuitive handling of the cases with families. This is natural for employees who do not reflect the power. The staff who reflect the power do so because they want to fulfill the requirements of the environment, despite the demands of their work and lack of time on individual cases work with the families.
