Reading Comprehension Skills on the Example of the 8th Grade of Primary School

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce „Dovednost čtení s porozuměním na příkladu 8. ročníku ZŠ“ pojednává o problematice čtení s porozuměním a úrovni čtenářské gramotnosti na druhém stupni základní školy. Cílem bakalářské práce je objasnit problematiku čtenářské gramotnosti a dokázat na základě speciálně vytvořených úloh, jak dnešní děti, navštěvující základní školu s českým a polským jazykem vyučovacím ve Slezsku, dovedou porozumět danému obsahu čteného textu. Zda umí nejen přečíst písmena a slova, která vidí, ale také pochopit jejich význam a obsah. Přestože čtenářská gramotnost v současné době zaujímá významné místo v RVP ZV, na druhém stupni základních škol není výuka čtení prioritou. Podle výzkumů čtenářské gramotnosti PISA a PIRLS, výsledky dětí z České republiky dosahovaly nízké úrovně, hlavně v úlohách s otevřenou odpovědí a největším problémem bylo kritické zhodnocení textu. Ve výzkumu PISA se dostaly tak pod evropský průměr.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis Reading Comprehension Skills on the Example of the 8th Grade of Primary School deals with the issue of reading comprehension and literacy level at the second stage of primary school. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to clarify literacy issue and to prove on the basis of prepared tasks how children attending Polish and Czech primary schools in Silesia are able to understand content of the text. Whether they can only read letters and words they see or they are also able to understand the meaning and the content. Although literacy occupies an important place in RVP of basic education in these days, teaching reading is not considered as a priority at the second stage of primary school. According to PISA and PIRLS research on literacy, results of pupils from the Czech Republic were at low level, mainly in open question tasks. A critical assessment of a text was the biggest problem. Therefore the results were placed under the European average in PISA research.
