Sustainable Transport in Prague: Analysis of the Potential of Taxi Service Providers within the Smart City Concept.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá, zda Praha vytváří optimální předpoklady pro udržitelnou dopravu v rámci koncepce Smart City. Výzkum odhalil, že Smart City je komplexní model, který integruje technologické, sociální a lidské aspekty spolu s institucionální infrastrukturou a environmentálními hledisky. Práce zdůrazňuje absenci jednotného indexu pro měření "chytrosti" měst a identifikujte výzvy spojené s implementací Smart City. Byla provedena analýza strategie "Smart Prague do roku 2030" se zvláštním zaměřením na „mobilitu budoucnosti“. Důkladné zkoumání dopravní situace v Praze vedlo k výzkumu současného stavu taxislužeb ve městě. Praktická část se věnovala analýze klíčových hráčů na trhu taxislužeb v Praze a jejich finančních ukazatelů. Výsledky ukazují, že tradiční taxislužby v Praze čelí finančním výzvám s příchodem nových digitálních platform jako jsou Uber a Bolt. Na základě těchto zjištění byla představena doporučení pro městskou správu a taxislužby s cílem dosáhnout harmonické integrace do Smart City vize pro Prahu.

Abstract:

This master's thesis examines whether Prague establishes optimal conditions for sustainable transport within the Smart City framework. The research revealed that a Smart City is a holistic model integrating technological, social, and human aspects, along with institutional infrastructure and environmental perspectives. The study emphasizes the absence of a unified index for gauging a city's "smartness" and identifies challenges associated with Smart City implementation. An analysis of the "Smart Prague 2030" strategy was conducted, with a special focus on the "mobility of the future". An in-depth examination of Prague's transportation landscape led to a research focus on the current state of taxi services in the city. The practical section delved into an analysis of key taxi service market players in Prague and their financial metrics. Findings indicate that traditional taxi services in Prague face financial challenges with the advent of new digital platforms like Uber and Bolt. Based on these insights, recommendations were presented for city administration and taxi services, aiming to achieve harmonious integration into Prague's Smart City vision.
