Residential Segregation In Ostrava

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá socio-prostorovou strukturou města Ostravy, zejména sociálně vyloučenými lokalitami. Hlouběji se zaměřuje na procesy vývoje segregovaných oblastí bydlení, vlivu prostorou na tamní obyvatelstvo a vztahu tohoto prostoru k jejich sociální exkluzi. Práce je členěna do dvou logických celků. První část řeší teoretický koncept problému rezidenční segregace na základě studia dostupné literatury. Druhá, praktická část práce je zaměřena na konkrétní vymezení sociálně vyloučených lokalit v Ostravě. Stěžejní kapitola této části je kapitola 9, která obsahuje případovou studii k lokalitě Přednádraží. Na tomto příkladu práce dokumentuje celý proces vzniku, vývoje a zániku sociálně vyloučené lokality se všemi příčinami a důsledky. Na základě této případové studie jsou v závěrečné části práce nastíněny nástroje prevence vzniku nových sociálně vyloučených lokalit a možnosti zlepšení situace již existujících sociálně vyloučených lokalit.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with social-area structure of the city of Ostrava, mainly the socially excluded areas. It is focused on segregated areas development processes, the area?s influence on its inhabitants and the relationship between the area and the social exclusion. It is divided into two logical parts. The first part deals with the theoretical concept of the residential segregation problem and is based on available literature sources. The second part is practical and is focused on particular specification of socially excluded areas in Ostrava. The main chapter of this part is chapter nine, which contains the case study of the city district called ?Přednádraží?. On this example, the thesis documents the process of formation, evolution and termination of socially excluded areas with all its causes and consequences. Based on this case study, in the conclusion of the thesis there are outlined tools preventing formation of new socially excluded areas and possibilities of situation improvement of already existing socially excluded areas.
