The Importance of Rail Transport for Tourism of Japan

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá zkoumáním významu železniční dopravy pro cestovní ruch Japonska. Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnocení vzájemného vztahu mezi železniční dopravou a cestovním ruchem v Japonsku, zhodnocení současného stavu a návrh možných opatření, která by mohla zlepšit spolupráci těchto dvou oborů. Dílčím cílem je posouzení významu vysokorychlostní železnice pro cestovní ruch v širším významu. Dalším z cílů je určení postavení železniční dopravy na dopravním trhu Japonska. Práce se dělí na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části je popsána definice železniční dopravy, historie železniční dopravy v Japonsku, systém a dopravci zdejší železniční dopravy a současné trendy v železniční dopravě. V praktické části je proveden kvantitativní výzkum pomocí dotazníkového šetření a kvalitativní výzkum pomocí kvalitativní metody – techniky pozorování. Cílem kvantitativního šetření je posouzení zkušeností turistů, kteří cestovali v Japonsku vlakem. Cílem kvalitativního šetření je ohodnocení dopravní dostupnosti vybrané turistické destinace v Japonsku. Potřebné informace a data pro analytickou část byla čerpána během studijního pobytu v Japonsku. Přínosem bakalářské práce je celkové zhodnocení fungování tamější železniční dopravy v souvislosti s cestovním ruchem země.

Abstract:

The bachelor’s thesis studies the importance of rail transport for tourism of Japan. The main objective of the bachelor’s thesis is to evaluate the relationship between rail transport and tourism in Japan, to evaluate the current situation and to suggest possible measures that could improve the cooperation between the two sectors. A partial goal is to assess the importance of high-speed rail for tourism in a broader sense. Another objective is to determine the position of rail transport in the transport market of Japan. The bachelor’s thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the definition of rail transport, the history of rail transport in Japan, the system and carriers of rail transport and current trends in rail transport. In the practical part, quantitative research is conducted using a questionnaire survey and qualitative research is conducted using a qualitative method - observation technique. The aim of the quantitative research is to assess the experiences of tourists who have travelled in Japan by train. The aim of the qualitative research is to evaluate the transport accessibility of a selected tourist destination in Japan. The necessary information and data for the analytical part was collected during the study stay in Japan. The contribution of the bachelor’s thesis is an overall evaluation of the functioning of rail transport in connection with the country's tourism.
