The Protection of Rights of Clients with Mental Illnes in a Selected Organisation Providing Social Services.

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Ochrana práv klientů s duševním onemocněním ve vybrané organizaci poskytující sociální služby“ se zabývá otázkou, jak je z pohledu pracovníků organizace chráněno právo jejich klientů na sebeurčení a jak je toto právo přeneseno do vnitřních pravidel organizace, zda garantují dodržování práv klientů s duševním onemocněním. Práce přináší teoretické vymezení psychotických poruch, práv lidí s duševním onemocněním, organizační kultury a charakteristik sociální práce s dlouhodobě duševně nemocnými lidmi. Na základě výzkumné otázky je zvolen kvalitativní výzkum a jsou použity rozhovory a analýza dokumentů pro sběr dat. Poznatky výzkumu vedly k závěru, že organizace má jasně definované poslání a cíle, které směřují k samostatnému rozhodování klientů a k formulování vlastních potřeb. Určité nedostatky však byly zjištěny v metodikách organizace, kde nejsou rozpracovány standardy jednání s klientem, které by sloužily pracovníkům jako jednotný návod k práci s klienty. Přístup jednotlivých pracovníků ke klientům se proto v rámci organizace liší, ochota respektovat právo klienta na sebeurčení je různá, závisí na dílčích preferencích pracovníků.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis entitled “The Protection of Rights of Clients with Mental Illness in a Selected Organisation Providing Social Services” deals with the problem of protecting the clients‘ rights of self-determination from the point of view of the employees and the manner of transferring these rights to the organisation’s internal policy, also determining whether the observation of such rights is guaranteed. The thesis provides a theoretical definition of psychotic disorders rights of people with mental illness, organisational culture and characteristics of social work with people suffering from long-term mental illness. On the basis of the research question a qualitative research was chosen and interviews and document analysis were used for collecting data. The research findings led to the conclusion that the organisation has clearly defined mission and objectives aiming at independent decision making of their clients and formulating their own needs. Certain shortcomings have been found in the organisation's procedures, where standards of communication with clients have not been worked out in order to serve as a unified guide for working with clients for the employees. Therefore, the approach of individual employees to clients varies within organisation and the willingness to respect the clients’ rights of self-determination is different and based on the employees‘ particular preferences.
