Differences in performance motivation between apprentices and final year students in secondary school

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit a porovnat úroveň potřeby úspěšného výkonu a potřeby vyhnout se neúspěchu žáků v učňovské a studijní třídě v posledních ročnících na střední odborné škole. Zvolený problém jsem řešila pomocí Dotazníku školní výkonové motivace autorů V. Hrabala a I. Pavelkové Teoretická část je věnována termínům motivace a výkonová motivace ve škole, potřebě vyhnout se neúspěchu a potřebě úspěšného výkonu a dále informacím k použitému Dotazníku. Vycházela jsem z dostupných informací z odborné literatury a dalších pramenů uvedených na konci práce. V empirické části jsou zpracovány informace vyplývající z dotazníkového šetření, kdy byly zjišťovány u žáků 4. maturitního, žáků 3. ročníku učebního a u žáků 2. ročníku nástavbového studia druhy výkonové motivace ke studie a sice, zda převažuje motivace k úspěšnému výkonu, nebo potřeba vyhnutí se neúspěchu. Zjišťovala jsem, zda a jak se tyto 3 skupiny od sebe, co do významu zmíněných druhů motivace, liší. Výsledky jsou zpracovány ve formě grafů a tabulek a ukazují všeobecně velmi nízkou míru výkonové motivace. Rozdíly v potřebě úspěšného výkonu a potřebě vyhnout se neúspěchu se mezi žáky mezi jednotlivých tříd nepotvrdily jako významné.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine and compare the level of need for successful performance and the need to avoid failure of students in apprenticeship and study classes in their final years at secondary school. I addressed the selected problem by using the School Performance Motivation Questionnaire by V. Hrabal and I. Pavelková The theoretical part is devoted to the terms motivation and performance motivation in school, the need to avoid failure and the need for successful performance, as well as information on the questionnaire used. I drew on available information from the literature and other sources listed at the end of the thesis. In the empirical part, the information resulting from the questionnaire survey is elaborated, where the types of performance motivation to study were investigated for pupils in the 4th year of school-leaving studies, pupils in the 3rd year of school-leaving studies and pupils in the 2nd year of post-secondary studies, namely whether the motivation for successful performance or the need to avoid failure prevails. I investigated whether and how these 3 groups differ from each other in terms of the importance of the mentioned types of motivation. The results are presented in the form of graphs and tables and show generally very low levels of performance motivation. The differences in the need for successful performance and the need to avoid failure were not found to be significant between the students in each class.
