Lifestyle of obese children and children with physiological weight

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na životní styl obézních dětí a dětí s fyziologickou hmotností. Pro bakalářskou práci byly zvoleny následující dva cíle: zmapovat životní styl obézních dětí a zmapovat životní styl dětí s fyziologickou hmotností. Teoretická část práce se zabývá životním stylem a jeho hlavními aspekty, jako je výživa a pohybová aktivita. Dále se zaměřuje na charakteristiku období staršího školního věku, hodnocení tělesné hmotnosti u dětí. Poslední kapitola se věnuje obezitě a dětské obezitě, kde jsou zmíněny příčiny vzniku, diagnostika, komplikace, prevence a léčba. Praktická část se věnuje sledovaným faktorům životního stylu u dětí ve věku 11 až 15 let. Data byla hodnocena na základě definice životního stylu, která zahrnovala výživu dětí, pohybovou aktivitu, účast na sportovně zaměřených kroužcích a volnočasové aktivity dětí (sledování televize, čas u počítače). Výzkumný soubor tvořilo celkem 20 dětí s jejich rodiči. Z tohoto souboru bylo 10 obézních dětí a 10 dětí s fyziologickou hmotností. Všichni respondenti a jejich rodiče vyplnili dotazníky týkající se životního stylu dětí a poskytli záznam jídelníčku po dobu 7 dnů. Výsledky výzkumu ukázaly, že u obézních dětí ve většině případů příjem jednotlivých živin neodpovídá doporučeným množstvím. V mnoha případech mají obézní děti tuky zastoupené v jídelníčku v nadměrné míře. Naopak u dětí s fyziologickou hmotností příjem tuků odpovídal doporučením. Zároveň z výsledků vyplývá, že obézní děti se pohybují v menší míře než děti s fyziologickou hmotností a nenavštěvují sportovně zaměřené kroužky na rozdíl od dětí s fyziologickou hmotností. Sledování televize a čas u počítače zaujímá u obézních dětí více času každý den. Naopak děti s fyziologickou hmotností tráví méně času sledováním televize a u počítače vzhledem k vyšší pohybové aktivitě.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on lifestyle of obese children and children with physiological weight. This study has been determined to reach two following goals: to map lifestyle of obese children and to map lifestyle of children with physiological weight. The theoretical part of the study covers lifestyle and its main aspects such as nutrition and physical activity. Further, it focuses on characteristics of the older school age (from ages 11 - 15) and an evaluation of children's weight. The last chapter is devoted to obesity and childhood obesity, in which causes, diagnostics, complications, prevention and treatment are mentioned. The practical part focuses on observed lifestyle factors of children between 11 and 15 years old. Data was evaluated on the basis of the definition of healthy lifestyle, which included nutrition of children, physical activity, partaking in sport-oriented afterschool activities and spending free time at home (watching television, spending time on computer). The research set consisted of 20 children in total with their parents. In particular, 10 were obese children and 10 were children with physiological weight. All respondents along with their parents filled questionnaires in and provided children's week menu records. Results of the research show, that the nutrient intake of obese children does not meet recommendations in most cases. The fat is usually present in an excessive quantity. On the other hand, in the case of children with physical weight, the fat intake meets nutrient recommendations. Furthermore, results show, that obese children move to a lesser extent and do not partake in sport-oriented afterschool activities contrary to children with physiological weight. Watching television and spending time on computer occupy more time on a daily basis. On the contrary, children with physiological weight spend less time watching television and on computer given the amount of physical activity.
