The Usage of MS Excel in Mathematic Classes at Lower Secondary School

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá využitím MS Excel ve výuce základů statistiky na ZŠ. Při zpracování této problematiky bylo vycházeno ze zařazení tohoto tématu v Rámcovém vzdělávacím programu. Teoretická část práce je věnování popisu výukových metod a jejich zařazení v matematice, základním poznatkům z oblasti popisné statistiky a teoretickému principu tabulkových procesorů. V praktické části popisuji absolvovanou výuku na osmiletém Gymnáziu Blansko, kde jsem v hodinách matematiky seznamovala žáky se základy statistiky a praktickým využitím za pomoci programu MS Excel. Součástí práce je i ukázka učebních a procvičovacích materiálů. Poté jsem analyzovala dotazníkové šetření zaměřené na zjišťování postojů žáků k tomuto typu výuky matematiky. Došla jsem k závěru, že žáci pozitivně hodnotí netradiční a méně používané metody výuky, obzvláště s podporou počítače. Práci s programem žáci považují za přínosnou pro budoucí studium i práci. Závěrečným výstupem z praxe je pro mě poznání, že je nutné žákům použitím vhodných výukových metod přiblížit teorii pomocí praktických příkladů.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis deals with the application of MS Excel in teaching of the basic principles of statistics to elementary school pupils. The topic has been treated as part of the General educational program. Theoretical part of the thesis is dedicated to characterization of educational methods and their application in mathematics, to elementary pieces of knowledge of descriptive statistics and to the theoretical principles of spreadsheet applications. In the practical part of the thesis the author describes the experience of teaching at the eight-year Comprehensive School in Blansko where, as part of the Math classes, she introduced to the pupils the basic principles of statistics and acquainted them with the practical aspect with the aid of MS Excel. Examples of teaching and practice materials are included. Afterwards the author has analysed the questionnaire survey focused on monitoring the attitude of pupils to this type of teaching of mathematics. The author concludes that pupils positively appraise unconventional and less frequently employed teaching methods, particularly those that make use of computer. Working with the application pupils regard as beneficial to their future studies and occupation. The output of the teaching experience is for the author the cognition that it is imperative to utilize practical examples by means of appropriate methods to acquaint pupils with the theoretical knowledge.
