Art therapy with children with learning disabilities

Abstract:

Tato práce popisuje arteterapeutickou činnost s dětmi se specifickými poruchami učení a chování. Teoretická část práce vychází z literárních zdrojů uvedených v seznamu použité literatury a zabývá se definicí specifických poruch učení a syndromu ADHD, jejich možnými příčinami a dopady na osobnost a život dítěte. Dále popisuje program péče o děti s těmito poruchami a zabývá se možnostmi, které v této oblasti má arteterapie. V neposlední řadě se zabývá výtvarným projevem dětí a jeho specifiky u dětí se SPU a ADHD. Praktická část předkládá dvě kasuistické studie, na nichž předvádí možnosti arteterapeutické práce s těmito dětmi. Zachycuje výtvarný posun u dvou chlapců v konkrétních oblastech souvisejících s jejich poruchami a jejich dopady na osobnost.

Abstract:

This thesis describes art therapeutic work with children suffering from learning disabilities (LDs) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The theoretical part of this thesis is based on specialized literature and focuses on the definition of learning disabilities and ADHD syndrome. Furthermore, possible causes of these disorders and also their consequences on the personality and life of an affected child are being discussed. In this theoretical part I also describe a care program for these children and include application of art therapy. I also focus on specific features at art works of children suffering from LDs and ADHD. In the practical part I present two case interpretation studies where art therapeutic procedures used in work with affected children are being described. Furthermore I describe art work progress of two boys. Here I focus on specific points connected with their disabilities and impact of these disorders on their personalities.
