The myth of the Austrian sacrifice after World War II

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá mýtem o rakouské oběti, který se zapsal do paměti širší společnosti po druhé světové válce. První část práce je chronologicky uspořádána od rozpadu monarchie, přes vytvoření státu, který nikdo nechtěl, až po samotný anšlus - to znamená, když do Rakouska dorazila vojska Wehrmachtu. Druhá část práce se zabývá spojeneckými plány na uspořádání Rakouska po válce, včetně první zmínky o rakouské oběti a následném osvobození Rakouska Rudou armádou, přes spojeneckou okupaci až po první poválečné volby. Třetí část práce se zabývá samotným mýtem o oběti, který byl široce propagován poválečnou politickou elitou a snažil se přesvědčit nejen společnost, ale i Spojence, že byli pouze oběťmi Hitlerova řádění, nikoliv spolupachateli války.

Abstract:

This work deals with the myth of the Austrian sacrifice, which entered the memory of the general society after the Second World War. The first part of the work is chronologically arranged from the collapse of the monarchy, through the creation of a state that nobody wanted, to the Anschluss itself - that is, when the troops of the Wehrmacht arrived in Austria. The second part of the work deals with the Allied plans for the arrangement of Austria after the war, including the first mention of the Austrian sacrifice and the subsequent liberation of Austria by the Red Army, through the Allied occupation to the first post-war elections. The third part of the work deals with the myth of the sacrifice itself, which was widely promoted by the post-war political elite and tried not only to convince society but also the Allies that they were only victims of Hitler's spree, not accomplices in the war.
