Relation between attachment and intercultural efficiency

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zmapovat souvislosti mezi citovou vazbou a interkulturní efektivitou v období pozdní adolescence. Ve studii byl dále ověřován mediační efekt self-efficacy. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 191 studentů víceletých gymnázií ve věku 17-20 let. K získání potřebných dat byly použity dotazníkové metody: Czech adaptation of the General Self-Efficacy Scale, Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) a Multicultural personality questionnaire: short form (MPQ-SF). K analýze dat byla použita analýza rozptylu a lineární regrese. Výsledky potvrdily středně silný vztah mezi interkulturní efektivitou a citovou vazbou k otci i self-efficacy. U citové vazby k matce se tento vztah neprokázal. Adolescenti s jistou citovou vazbou k otci dosahovali vyšší míry interkulturní efektivity než jedinci s nejistou citovou vazbou. Posilující mediační efekt self-efficacy se ve vztahu citové vazby a interkulturní efektivity nepotvrdil. Výsledek regresního modelu prokázal přímý vliv self-efficacy a citové vazby na interkulturní efektivitu. Nejsilnějším prediktorem bylo v tomto modelu self-efficacy. Výsledky jsou diskutovány v kontextu předcházejících zjištění spolu s limity a náměty pro další výzkumy.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to explore the relationship between attachment and intercultural effectiveness in late adolescence. The sample consisted of 191 students of grammar school in the age rating between 17 and 20 years. We used the questionnaires to obtain wanted data: General Self-Efficacy Scale, Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and Multicultural personality questionnaire: short form (MPQ-SF). The analysis method was analysed of variance and linear regression. The results bring the evidence of medium strength relations between intercultural effectiveness and attachment to father as well with self-efficacy. There were no relation to attachment to mother. Adolescents with secure attachment to father achieved higher score in intercultural effectiveness then individuals with insecure attachment. There was not found the mediation effect of self-efficacy toward attachment and interculural effectiveness. Result of regression model indicated direct influence of self-efficacy and attachment to intercultural effectiveness. The best predictor in this regression model was self-efficacy. The results are discussed in context of previous findings with the limitations and future research implications.
