The language island of Jihlava - Expulsion of Germans and resettlement of the area after the Second World War

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá odsunem Němců z Jihlavského jazykového ostrova a následným dosídlením území po druhé světové válce. V rešeršní části práce jsou představeny různé publikace zabývající se tématem v rámci Československa a také v rámci Jihlavska. Práce čerpá zejména ze zmíněné odborné literatury a z dobových archiválií. V úvodu je vymezeno a stručně charakterizováno zájmové území. V další části práce je popsána historie německého osídlení území, na kterou dále navazuje charakteristika procesu vysídlení Němců z Československa a následného dosídlení oblasti. Výzkum se opírá zejména o poznatky z menších případových studií několika vybraných sídel, které doplňují obecný popis zkoumané problematiky na celém území jazykového ostrova. Výsledky výzkumu jsou zpracovány statisticky a vizualizovány v mapách. V závěrečné kapitole jsou popsány a zhodnoceny důsledky obou migračních pohybů.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the expulsion of Germans form the language island of Jihlava and with the resettlement of the area after the Second World War. The researching part of the work introduces various publications which focus on the topic within the scope of Czechoslovakia and within the region of Jihlava. The work obtains information mainly from previously mentioned literature and from archived scripts. The introductory part of the work defines and briefly describes the area of interest. The next sections describe the history of German settlement of the area and then the process of expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia and the subsequent resettlement of the territory. The research mainly leans on findings from smaller case studies of several selected locations which support the general description of the studied issue in the whole area of the language island. The results of the research are processed into statistics and are visualised in maps. The concluding chapter describes and evaluates the consequences of both migration movements.
