Analysis of financial statements of the CPI Facility, a.s. prepared according to the Czech legislation and the IFRS

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje komparaci účetních výkazů sestavených dle české účetní legislativy a Mezinárodních standardů účetního výkaznictví. V teoretické části je provedena deskripce vývoje účetnictví, funkce účetnictví a informačních potřeb jeho uživatelů. Dále jsou popsána pravidla a principy, na kterých jsou postaveny US GAAP, IFRS a česká účetní legislativa, následně je vysvětlena současná snaha o harmonizaci mezi systémy US GAAP a IFRS a také harmonizace českého účetnictví s evropskou účetní legislativou. Ve třetí části jsou analyzovány předpoklady pro sestavení účetní závěrky dle české účetní legislativy a Mezinárodních standardů účetního výkaznictví. V praktické části jsou na příkladu konkrétní společnosti demonstrovány rozdíly ve výkazech sestavovaných dle českého účetní legislativy a Mezinárodních standardů účetního výkaznictví, jež vznikají u vybraných vykazovaných položek. Z těchto odlišností vyplývají významné rozdíly ve výsledku hospodaření vykázaného dle IFRS a dle ČÚL.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis compares financial statements prepared in accordance with the Czech accounting legislation and the International financial reporting standards. The theoretical part describes the development of accounting, its functions and information needs of its users. It is followed by the description of rules and principles that create foundation for US GAAP, International financial reporting standards IFRS and Czech accounting legislation. Subsequently it explains the current trend to bring the US GAAP and IFSR systems in line, as well as matching up the Czech accounting system to the European accounting legislation. The third part analyses conditions for preparation financial statements accordance with the Czech accounting legislation and the International financial reporting standards. The practical part uses examples from a specific company to show the differences arising by the selected items of financial statements prepared according to the Czech accounting legislation and the International financial reporting standards. These discrepancies cause remarkable difference in the amount of profit calculated in compliance with IFRS and/or Czech accounting legislation.
