Assessment Center as a method of selecting employees

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na představení metody výběru pracovníků prostřednictvím assessment centra. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí – teoretické a praktické. Teoretická část se věnuje vývoji a specifikacím této metody, jejím charakteristikám a jednotlivým fázím výběrového procesu. Zároveň čtenáře seznámí s klíčovými pojmy a postupy využívanými v typu výběrového řízení. V závěru teoretické části budou analyzovány výhody a nevýhody assessment centra, jeho platnost a spolehlivost, stejně jako aktuální trendy v oblasti výběrových Praktická část bude zaměřena na hodnocení centra z pohledu dvou vybraných firem a samotných účastníků. Cíl této části je zjistit, jak firmy i kandidáti vnímají tento proces, jaké faktory ovlivňují jejich zkušenost a jaké míry hodnotící centrum za spravedlivou a efektivní metodu výběru. Výzkum bude formou komparativní analýzy založené na rozhovorech a na dotazníkovém šetření, které bude provedeno mezi vybranými firmami a mezi účastníky hodnocení centra napříč různými sektory a firemními kulturami. Výsledky práce mohou přispět k lepšímu pochopení silných a slabých stránek hodnocení centra z pohledu uchazečů a zároveň poskytnout firmám cenné podněty ke zlepšení výběrového procesu. Zatímco teoretická část se zaměří na definici a vývoj assessment centra, jeho metodiku a přínosy, praktická část nabídne analýzu získaných dat a doporučení pro praxi.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on presenting the selection method of employees through the assessment center. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explores the development and specifications of this method, its characteristics, and the various phases of the selection process. It also familiarizes the reader with key concepts and procedures used in this type of selection process. At the end of the theoretical section, the advantages and disadvantages of the assessment center will be analyzed, along with its validity, reliability, and current trends in the field of employee selection. The practical part will focus on the evaluation of the assessment center from the perspective of two selected companies and the participants themselves. The aim of this section is to determine how companies and candidates perceive this process, what factors influence their experience, and to what extent they consider the assessment center a fair and effective selection method. The research will be conducted as a comparative analysis based on interviews and questionnaire surveys, carried out among selected companies and assessment center participants across different sectors and corporate cultures. The results of this thesis may contribute to a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the assessment center from the perspective of candidates, while also providing companies with valuable insights for improving the selection process. While the theoretical part will focus on defining and developing the assessment center, its methodology, and its benefits, the practical part will offer an analysis of the collected data and recommendations for practice.
