The History of Theater in Pilsen

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Dějiny plzeňského divadelnictví aneb cesta města k Novému divadlu Divadla J. K. Tyla se zabývá historií a vývojem až do současnosti nejen divadelní tradice Plzně, ale zejména dějinami míst a budov, které sloužily k divadelním účelům. V teoretické části proto popisuji historický kontext, v té praktické se naopak věnuji tomu, jak veřejnost i samotní zaměstnanci objekt vnímají. Zkoumám tedy, zda byl projekt moderní divadelní budovy úspěšný, zda motivoval k návštěvě další generaci a zda se podílí na úspěchu divadla.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis titled The History of Theatre in Pilsen or the city's journey to the New Theatre of J. K. Tyl Theatre deals with the history and development up to the present not only of the theatre tradition of Pilsen, but especially with the history of places and buildings that served theatrical purposes. Therefore, in the theoretical part I describe the historical context, in the practical part I focus on how the public and the employees themselves perceive the object. I therefore examine whether the project of a modern theatre building was successful, whether it motivated the next generation to visit and whether it contributes to the success of the theatre.
