Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá pohledy a názory učitelů na použití párové práce v mluveném projevu jako podpůrného nástroje pro studenty, kteří při mluvení trpí nějakými obtížemi. Autor této práce absolvoval rozhovory s 15 učiteli anglického jazyka (10 z nich bylo mladších s maximálně 3 lety praxe a 5 z nich zkušenějších s alespoň 10 lety praxe). Pro získání jejich názorů a pohledů byly použity polostrukturované rozhovory. Práce se soustředí na 3 výzkumné otázky: Jakými způsoby učitelé zahrnují párovou práci do mluveného projevu, Jaké jsou výhody a nevýhody párové práce a Jak může mluvení v párech pomoci studentům, kteří mají při mluvení obtíže. Názory mladších a zkušenějších učitelů byly poté porovnány, aby bylo možné určit, které oblasti se shodují a které se liší. Výsledky ukázaly, že mluvení v párech může být použito v mnohých aktivitách a může mít jisté výhody, avšak jsou i způsoby, kdy je naopak neefektivní. Výsledky také ukázaly několik konkrétních oblastí, ve kterých může mluvení v párech pomoci studentům, kteří mají s touto činností obtíže. Ačkoliv jsou výsledky založené pouze na pohledech a názorech malého vzorku učitelů anglického jazyka, jejich pohled implikuje, že užití práce v párech je mocným nástrojem nejen pro pomoc studentům, ale také pro učení jazyka obecně, avšak tato metoda musí být použita tím správným způsobem

Abstract:

This thesis aims to explore teachers’ beliefs and opinions on use of pair work in speaking as a supportive tool for students who suffer from speaking difficulties. The author of this thesis interviewed 15 teachers of the English language (10 of them were young with 3 years of teaching practice or less and 5 were experienced ones who have been teaching for 10 years or more). Semi-structured interviews were used to gain their opinions and beliefs. The thesis is focused on three research questions that deal with the inclusion of pair work in speaking, the advantages and disadvantages of pair work, and the helpfulness of pair work for students who suffer from speaking difficulties. The perspectives of young and experienced teachers were then compared to see what areas they agreed on and what areas are different. The results show that speaking in pairs may be used for various exercises and that it may have certain advantages, however, ways in which pair work is rather ineffective emerged as well. The result also offered several areas through which pair work may help students with speaking difficulties. Although the results only reflect the beliefs and opinions of a small sample of English teachers, the implications based on that show that pair work might be a powerful tool not only for help to the students but for general language learning as well, however, this method needs to be properly used.
