Possibilities of accelerometric measurement in fitness centre

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit možnost využívání akcelerometrických zařízení při sledování pohybové aktivity ve fitness centrech. V teoretické části bylo formou literární rešerše popsáno prostředí fitness center, možnosti pohybových aktivit v rámci tréninků a uveden přehled jednotlivých měřících zařízení pohybové aktivity. Pro empirickou část byly vybrány subjekty rozdílných populačních skupin, na kterých byl výzkum proveden monitoringem jejich pohybové aktivity po dobu pěti dnů, zohledňujících všední dny a víkend. Měření bylo prováděno přístroji Myzone, Vivofit a akcelerometrem ActiGraph. Výsledky měření byly následně vyhodnoceny, analyzovány dle zvolených výzkumných otázek a porovnány na základě diferencí v jednotlivých měřeních. V diskusi byly popsány faktory ovlivňující zpracovaná data a provedeno zhodnocení získaných informací, s doporučením k provedení rozsáhlejší případové studie na toto téma.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis was to investigate the option of using accelerometer device to monitor physical activity in fitness centers. The theoretical part of a literary review described the environment of fitness centers, possibilities of physical activity in performance training and it contains a brief summary of different devices measuring physical activity. Concerning the empirical part, subjects of different population groups were chosen and their physical activities were monitored during five days, taking into account weekdays and weekends. The measurement was performed by Myzone device, Garmin Vivofit activity monitor and ActiGraph accelerometer. The measurement results were evaluated, analyzed according to selected research questions and they were compared on the basis of differences in individual measurements. In the discussion, factors influencing the processed data were described and the gained information was used to make a recommendation to carry out an extensive study of this topic.
