Testing the motor performance of 2nd year secondary school students in the Karlovy Vary region

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je pomocí testové baterie zjistit úroveň motorické výkonnosti žáků 2. ročníků tří vybraných středních škol z Karlovarského kraje. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo 434 žáků studujících na Integrované střední škole ekonomické a technické Sokolov, Prvním českém gymnáziu v Karlových Varech a Střední pedagogické škole, gymnáziu a vyšší odborné škole Karlovy Vary. Teoretická část této práce se zabývá problematikou pohybových schopností, pohybem a jeho funkcemi, zdravím, jež neodmyslitelně k pohybu patří, školní tělesnou výchovou a jejími cíli. Dále pojednává o specifikách období adolescence, v němž se testovaní žáci nacházejí, jejich motivaci k pohybovým aktivitám a roli rodiny a školy v utváření vztahu dítěte ke sportu. V závěru předkládá diagnostiku motorické výkonnosti, motorické testy a dosavadní výzkumy zaměřené na témata s touto diplomovou prací související. Z naměřených výsledků bylo zjištěno, že výkony žáků se pohybují v pásmu průměru až podprůměru. Pro výzkum byly stanoveny čtyři hypotézy, z nichž se nepotvrdila pouze jedna. Zjistili jsme souvislost mezi výší motorické výkonnosti žáků a jejich pohlavím. Dále bylo odhaleno, že populačních norem motorické výkonnosti dosahuje méně než 50 % námi testovaných chlapců a dívek. Posledním sledovaným aspektem byl vytrvalostní člunkový běh, který žákům dle našich předpokladů činil největší obtíže.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis to determine the level of motor performance of the pupils of the second year of three selected secondary schools from the Karlovy Vary region by means of a test battery. The research sample consisted of 434 pupils studying at the Integrated Secondary School of Economics and Engineering Sokolov, the First Czech Grammar School in Karlovy Vary and the Secondary School of Education, Grammar School and The Higher Vocational School of Karlovy Vary. The theoretical part of this work deals with the issue of mobility, movement and its functions, the health inherent in movement, school physical aducatiob and its goals. It also discusses the specifics of the period of adolescence in which the tested pupils find themselves, their motivation for physical activities and the role of family and school in shaping a childs relationship with sport. In conclusion, it presents diagnostics of motor performance, motor tests and research to date on topics related to this thesis. The measured results revealed that pupils performances ranged from average to below average. Four hypotheses have been identified for the research, of which only one has not been confirmed. We found a link between pupils motor performance levels and their gender. Furthermore, it has been revealed that less than 50 % of the boys and girls tested by us achieve population standards of motor performance. The last aspect to be observed was the endurance boat run, which we expected to cause the pupils the greatest difficulty.
