Reconstruction of historical landscape in the Čáslav region, with an emphasis on water management

Abstract:

Historická krajina je úspěšným, znovu nalézaným tématem vědeckých prací poslední dekády. Rekonstrukce podoby historické krajiny, ať už jako celku nebo jejích dílčích částí, přináší možnost rozkrýt vzájemný vztah člověka a přírody v určitém místě a určité epoše. Jeho symbiotickou, podmiňující, limitující, ale také konfliktní povahu. Výsledky výzkumu historické krajiny se však neomezují pouze na minulost, ale svým charakterem mohou poskytovat inspiraci, vodítko a podklady pro přístup ke krajině současné a prostřednictvím krajinného plánování, také budoucí. Tato práce se zabývá rekonstrukcí historické krajiny Čáslavska, na jejíž podobě, fungování a využívání se významným a charakteristickým způsobem podílelo vodní hospodářství. Konkrétně jeho nejsignifikantnější historický projev ? rybníkářství. Práce využívá k rekonstrukci rozsahu této vodohospodářské činnosti člověka v krajině archivních materiálů (starých map, historických katastrů, vodních knih a listin) a prostřednictvím reliktů zaniklých rybníků také terénního výzkumu a metod DPZ (leteckého laserového skenování). Jako klíčový historický pramen pro určení rozsahu těchto vodních děl je využit josefský katastr. Jednotlivé rybniční soustavy jsou poté prostorově rekonstruovány v prostředí geografického informačního systému (GIS) pomocí různých metod ? digitalizací, rektifikací a vektorizací starých map, ze kterých jsou zaniklé rybníky rekonstruovány přímo nebo prostřednictvím retrogresivní analýzy a také jejich rekonstrukce na podkladu reliktů hrází a digitálního modelu reliéfu ČR 5. generace. Jednotlivé metody jsou porovnávány, jejich výsledky statisticky zhodnoceny a slouží jako podklad pro rekonstrukční mapu. Kromě rekonstrukce, se práce zaměřuje také na hlavní fáze vývoje rybníkářství v regionu a hybné síly, které se podílely na vzniku a zániku těchto významný krajinných prvků. Výsledky regionálního výzkumu poté porovnává s obecnými historickými trendy v Českých zemích. Prostřednictvím případových studií poté demonstruje význam a jistou symbolickou roli rybníků v historické krajině a jejich percepci místními obyvateli.

Abstract:

Historical landscape has been a successful, rediscovered subject of academic works of the last decade. The reconstruction of image of historical landscape, whether as a complex or its parts ? units and elements, provide for the possibility to discover the mutual relationship of men and nature in particular place and era; relationship with its symbolical, conditional, limitative, but also conflictful character. The results of historical landscape research is not limited only to the past, but can also lead to inspiration, imperative and records for the treatment of landscape ? through landscape planning ? today and in the future. This work focuses on the reconstruction of historical landscape in the Čáslav region, the image function and utilization of which was notably and rather characteristically affected by water utilization ? namely by its most significant historical component ? pond cultivation. For the reconstruction of water management of man in the landscape, this thesis employs archival material (old maps, historical cadastres, water registers and deeds) and the relicts of defunct ponds, terrain research and airborne laser scanning. As a key historical document for determining the range of these waterworks was used the Josephinian cadastre. Separate pond systems are further spatially reconstructed by direct methods or in the environment of geographic information system (GIS) through various tools ? digitalization, rectification and vectorization of old maps, from which were the defunct ponds reconstructed directly or through retrogressive analysis and reconstruction based on dykes and 5th generation of Digital terrain model of the Czech Republic. The methods were compared, its results statistically assessed and used as a base for the reconstruction map. Apart from reconstruction, this thesis is focused on main phases of pond cultivation in the region and the driving forces, which were partaking in the creation and lapse of these notable landscape elements. The results of regional research were compared with general historical trends in the Czech Lands. By means of case studies this work demonstrates the significance and certain symbolic role of ponds in historical landscape and its perception by local inhabitants.
