Hospitalization of a child with sensual defect

Abstract:

Zrakově a sluchově postižené děti mají stejné základní fyzické, intelektuální a citové potřeby jako ostatní děti. Navíc však mají speciální potřeby, vyplývající z jejich postižení. Pro optimální vývoj těchto dětí je nutná komplexní oftalmologická nebo audiologická péče, vhodný vzdělávací program a vytvoření stimulujícího, láskyplného prostředí. Děti se smyslovým postižením zraku nebo sluchu vyžadují zvláštní přístup zdravotnického personálu i v době hospitalizace dítěte v nemocnici, nejen proto, že jde o nové prostředí, ale zejména proto, že rychlá orientace v tomto neznámém prostředí je pro ně náročnější, stejně jako komunikace se zdravotnickým personálem. Cílem diplomové práce je zaměření na zvláštní přístup k těmto dětem a jejich doprovodu. Zabývá se zvláštnostmi v komunikaci zdravotnického personálu, a jeho připraveností děti se smyslovým postižením přijmout a hospitalizovat na dětském oddělení. Průzkumným šetřením byly zjištěny nedostatky v komunikaci a neznalost správného přístupu zdravotnického personálu ke smyslově postiženým dětem.

Abstract:

Visually and aurally handicapped children have the same basic physical,intellectual and emotinal needs like other children. Above that, they have special needs ensue from their handicap. There is needed complex ophtalmological or audiologycal care, appropriate educational program and creating stimulative and loving enviroment for the optimum upgrowth of these children. Children with sensory handicap of sight or hearing call for special approach of medical personnel even during the time of hospitalization of a child in hospital. Not only because it is a new enviroment but mainly because a quick orientation in this unfamiliar surroundings is for them more complicated, just as communication with medical personnel. Aim of this thesis is special focus on access to these children and and people accompanying them. The thesis deals an emphasis should be placed on differences in communication medical staff and readiness accept this children with sensual defect and take care of these children on the pediatric ward. The survey has been done to find out some inadequacies in communication and lack of sufficient knowledge as to the attitude of medical staff to sense- disabled children.
