The Development of the Czech Energy Sector in the Context of the Climate and Energy Objectives of the European Union Since the 1990s

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá vývojem energetiky na území České republiky od roku 1990. Cílem diplomové práce je ověření hypotézy, že se České republice daří plnit klimaticko-energetické cíle Evropské unie. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na ekonomické přístupy, které jsou aplikovány v energetice. Dále se zabývá energetickou bezpečností. Klíčová pasáž teoretické části představuje jednotlivé zdroje elektrické energie a bilancuje jejich výhody a nevýhody. Praktická část se nejprve věnuje klimaticko-energetické politice EU. Stěžejní pasáž praktické části se věnuje vývoji energetiky na území ČR v kontextu klimaticko-energetických cílů EU. Na závěr praktické části je představen možný vývoj české energetiky pomocí tří scénářů. Práce dochází k závěru, že se České republice poměrně úspěšně daří plnit klimaticko-energetické cíle. Práce poukazuje na to, že dynamický rozvoj obnovitelných zdrojů energie v České republice byl z velké části závislý na dotacích a jiných formách podpory. Druhým závěrem práce je, že rozvoj OZE na našem území je dále možný, ale bude souviset s dalšími prostředky z veřejných zdrojů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the development of the energy sector in the Czech Republic since 1990. The thesis aims to verify the hypothesis that the Czech Republic is succeeding in meeting the climate and energy objectives of the European Union. The theoretical part focuses on the economic approaches applied in the energy sector. The theoretical part also deals with energy security. A key passage of the theoretical part presents sources of electricity and balances their advantages and disadvantages. The practical part deals with the EU´s climate and energy policy. The key passage of the practical part deals with the development of the energy sector in the Czech Republic in the context of the EU´s climate and energy objectives. At the end of the practical part is presented the possible development of the Czech energy sector. The thesis concludes that the Czech Republic has been relatively successful in meeting its climate and energy objectives. The thesis points out that the development of renewable energy in the Czech Republic was largely dependent on subsidies and other forms of support. The second conclusion is that the development od RES is possible but will be linked to additional public subsidies.
