Women's Awareness of the Provision of Care by a Community Midwife in the Home Environment

Abstract:

ABSTRAKT Úvod: Předložená bakalářská práce je věnována komunitní péče v porodní asistenci. Téma bylo specifikováno a práce je zaměřena na informovanost žen o poskytování péče porodní asistentkou v domácím prostředí. Teoretická část podrobně pojednává o profesi porodní asistentky (definice, vzdělávání, kompetence) a komunitní péči (definice, historický vývoj a současnost v České republice a některých dalších zemích Evropy). V praktické části jsou analyzována data získaná pomocí dotazníku k naplnění cíle a dílčích cílů bakalářské práce. Cíl práce: Cílem bylo zjistit míru informovanosti žen o poskytování péče porodními asistentkami v komunitním prostředí, a jaké s ní mají zkušenosti. Na základě toho získat ucelenou představu o současné situaci v komunitní péči. Metodika: Aplikován byl kvantitativní sběr dat za využití anonymního polostrukturovaného on-line dotazníku vytvořeného přes Microsoft Forms. Pro výběr respondentek byla stanovena kritéria, která vedla ke zúžení cílové skupiny respondentek na ženy, které porodily mezi lezy 2020 až 2023, aby byla zajištěna aktuálnost dat. Průzkumu se zúčastnilo 776 respondentek, přičemž po důkladné selekci a vyřazení dotazníků nekompletních a nesprávně vyplněných dotazníků zůstalo 437 responzí. Výsledky: Po zpracování dat z průzkumu vyplývá, že míra informovanosti žen o poskytování péče komunitní porodní asistentkou je vysoká. Respondentky mají přehled o tom, kdo komunitní porodní asistentka je, co dělá a považují její péči za důležitou a prospěšnou. O využití této péče mají zájem, ale zdravotní systém jim tuto možnost aktivně nenabízí a neinformuje je o možnosti a podmínkách jejího využití. Z této skutečnosti vyplývá nejčastější důvod pro nevyužití péče, tedy neinformovanost a nevědomost žen, jak péči využít a kde komunitní porodní asistentku hledat.

Abstract:

SUMMARY Introduction: The presented bachelor's thesis is devoted to community care in midwifery. The topic was specified and the work focuses on women's awareness of the care provided by a midwife in a home enviroment. The theoretical part elaborates in detail on the profession of the midwife (definition, education, competencies) and community care (definition, historical development, and current state in the Czech Republic and some other European countries). In the practical part, data obtained through a questionnaire are analyzed to achieve the goal and specific objectives of the bachelor's thesis. Aims of the Thesis: The aim was to determine the level of women's awareness of the care provided by midwives in a community setting, and their experiences with it. Based on this, to obtain a comprehensive view of the current situation in community care. Methodology: A quantitative data collection was applied using an anonymous semi-structured online questionnaire created via Microsoft Forms. Criteria were established for selecting respondents, narrowing the target group to women who gave birth between 2020 and 2023, to ensure data currency. The survey was participated in by 776 respondents, with 437 responses remaining after thorough selection and exclusion of incomplete and incorrectly filled questionnaires. Results: After processing the data from the survey, it appears that the level of women's awareness of care provided by a community midwife is high. Respondents have a good understanding of who the community midwife is, what she does, and consider her care important and beneficial. They are interested in utilizing this care, but the health system does not actively offer or inform them about the possibility and conditions of its use. The most common reason for not using the care is the lack of information and knowledge among women on how to utilize the care and where to find a community midwife.
