Finances and Life Satisfaction of Ústí nad Labem Citizens

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo prozkoumat vztah mezi finančními faktory a životní spokojeností občanů Ústí nad Labem s ohledem na další aspekty jejich života. Předmětem zkoumání byly čisté měsíční příjmy z pracovní činnosti a příjmy z nepracovní činnosti. U těchto proměnných byl zkoumán vztah s životní spokojeností. Zdrojem dat byly informace získané z dotazníkového šetření. Soubor respondentů tvořila část občanů Ústí nad Labem. Pro zjištění vztahů mezi proměnnými byla použita nelineární regresní analýza metodou LOGIT a lineární regrese metodou OLS. Vytvořeny byly čtyři odlišné modely, z nichž byl vybrán hlavní model této práce podle nejnižšího Akaikeho kritéria. Z důvodu jednodušší (přímé) interpretace koeficientů byl k tomuto modelu vytvořen lineární model metodou nejmenších čtverců (OLS). Hlavní model LOGIT objevil pozitivní spojitost mezi životní spokojeností a nepracovními příjmy. Vztah finančních příjmů z pracovní činnosti s životní spokojeností objeven nebyl.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to examine the relationship between financial factors and life satisfaction of Usti nad Labem's citizens while taking into account other aspects of their lives. The subject of the research was a net monthly income derived from work activity as well as an income from non-work activity. As far as these variables go a relationship between them and life satisfaction was investigated. The source of data was a questionnaire survey. The sample of respondents consisted of part of the Usti nad Labem's citizens. Nonlinear LOGIT regression and linear OLS regression were used to determine the relationships between variables. Four different models were created, from which the main model of this thesis was selected according to the lowest Akaike criterion. For the purpose of easier interpretation of coeficients, an additional linear OLS model was created as well. The main LOGIT model discovered a positive connection between life satisfaction and non-work income. A relationship between financial income from work activity and life satisfaction was not found.
