An attractiveness or non-attractiveness of the Russian soft power: An case study of the French political party - National Rally

Abstract:

Termín soft power se v geopolitickém prostředí vyskytuje už několik dekád především zásluhou otce tohoto konceptu amerického akademika J.S. Nyeho. Avšak tyto myšlenky byly definovány ze západního úhlu pohledu a nepočítá s myšlenkou toho, že i neliberální nedemokratické mocnosti mohou produkovat svůj specifický obraz měkké síly. Autor však vychází z výzkumů, jež počítají s tím, že Ruská federace disponuje vlastním obrazem měkké moci, která si pak našla cíl u řady politických subjektů napříč západní Evropou. Právě jedním z nich je francouzská krajně nacionalistická politická strana Marine Le Penové, Národní sdružení. Na tomto případě budeme dokazovat účinek měkké moci Kremlu a jeho následné zisky. Hlavní pilíře tvořící podstavu ruské měkké síly nebudou také opomenuty. Přiblíženy budou i společné znaky politických aktérů inklinujících k myšlenkám Moskvy a v neposlední řadě budou představeni někteří další aktéři ovlivnění měkkou mocí Ruska.

Abstract:

The term "soft power" has appeared in geopolitics for the last couple of decades, mainly thanks to the father of this concept, an American academic, J.S. Nye. However, his thoughts were defined from the Western point of view and does not take into account non-liberal and non-democratic powers producing its own fashion of soft power. The author works on the presumption that the Russian federation developed its own manner of soft power which subsequently targeted numerous political subjects across Western Europe. Besides others, there is a French far-right National Rally, a political party led by Marine Le Pen. This thesis will demonstrate the impact of Kremlin soft power resulting in its own political profit. Also, the main pillars of the Russian soft power will be discussed. Last but not least, the thesis examines similar aspects of political players that are inclined to Moscow's way of thinking and introduces several other subjects influenced by the Russian soft power.
