Intergenerational Solidarity in Caring for the Elderly

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem mezigenerační solidarity se zaměřením na problematiku péče o seniory z pohledu osob střední generace. Teoretická část seznamuje s demografickým vývojem společnosti a soustředí se na aktuální témata, kterými jsou stárnutí populace a současná proměna rodiny. Vymezuje pojmy stáří, stárnutí či senior a popisuje specifika seniorského věku. Blíže se zabývá tématem péče o seniory, kdy popisuje péči o staré lidi v historii, věnuje pozornost rodině i její funkci při péči o seniora a soustředí pozornost na důležitost mezigenerační solidarity v rámci rodinné neformální péče. Zaměřuje se na osoby střední generace v roli pečujících o seniory i na to, jaký vliv má, zejména dlouhodobá osobní péče, na osobní život pečujících. Zmiňuje také některé možnosti pomoci pečujícím osobám. Praktická část je tvořena kvantitativním výzkumem, který je realizován formou dotazníkového šetření. Jeho cílem je zjistit jaké jsou motivy osob střední generace, jež je vedou k rozhodnutí, jakým způsobem zajistí péči svým starým rodičům. Zajímá nás také, nakolik toto rozhodnutí ovlivnila zkušenost s péčí o seniora v orientační rodině, ekonomická situace rodiny, zdravotní stav seniora, stejně jako vzájemné vztahy rodinných příslušníků nebo počet sourozenců zkoumané osoby.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of the solidarity among the generations and it is mostly focused on the topic taking care for the senior citizens from the perspective of the middle aged generation. The theoretical part introduces the demographic development and concentrates on the current topics such as the change of the family and growing age of the population. It also defines the terms of the old age, the process of growing older and describes the specificity of the old people's life. The thesis focuses on the matter of taking care for the senior citizens in the past and it also pays attention to the family and its role. It emphasizes the importance of the solidarity among the generations within the family informal care. The thesis focuses on middle aged people who are in the role of carers and on the influence of the long term personal care on their personal life. It also provides possibilities of helping the carers. The practical part consists of the quantitative research which is realized by the survey. Its main aim is to find out the middle aged people's motives for decisions in the area of taking care for their old parents. We are also interested if the decision is influenced by the experience of taking care for old people in the target family or economical situation of the family, the state of health of the old person as well as the rapport or the number of siblings.
