Changes in the depiction of the village in Czech literature

Abstract:

Diplomová práce si kladla za cíl postihnout proměny v zobrazování vesnice v české literatuře v závislosti na změnách společensko-politického a historického kontextu, a to od konce 19. století do současnosti. Teoretická část definuje základní terminologii a dále je zaměřená na vymezení venkova jako prostoru. Nelze opomenout ani vývoj české vesnice od nejstarších dob po současnost, neboť nám umožňuje pochopit souvislosti v zobrazování vesnice v literatuře. Součástí teoretické části je rovněž stručná charakteristika vývoje české vesnické prózy s představením stěžejních autorů a jejich děl. Praktická část analyzuje a interpretuje vybraná díla od konce 19. století po současnost. Jsou jimi konkrétně romány: Na Librově gruntě od Terézy Novákové, Réva na zdi od Josefa Knapa, Svatý Michal od Jana Kozáka a z nejnovější tvorby román Dědina od Petry Dvořákové. Na základě analýz a interpretací jsou následně popsány typické rysy v zobrazování vesnice v literatuře. Součástí diplomové práce je také didaktická část, která představuje využití dvou vybraných textových ukázek v hodinách literární výchovy v 9. ročníku základní školy.

Abstract:

The aim of diploma thesis is show the changes in the depiction of the village in literature depending on changes in the socio-political and historical context, from the end of the 19th century to the present. The theoretical part defines the basic terminology and is also focused on the definition of the countryside as a space. The development of the Czech village from the earliest times to the present can not be overlooked, as it allows us to understand the context in depicting the village in literature. Part of the theoretical part is also a brief description of the development of Czech village literature with a presentation of key authors and their works. The practical part analyzes and interprets selected works from the end of the 19th century to the present. These are, in particular, novels: Na Librově gruntě by Teréza Nováková, Réva na zdi by Josef Knap, Svatý Michal by Jan Kozák, and the novel Dědina by Petra Dvořáková from her latest work. Based on analyzes and interpretations, typical features in the depiction of the village in the literature are subsequently described. In the diploma thesis is also a didactic part, which represents the use of two selected text samples in literary education classes in the 9th grade of primary school.
