The consumption of television contents with using alternative devices and the Internet

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá konzumací televizních obsahů v kontextu probíhajících technologických inovací. Cílem práce je teoreticky i empiricky zachytit alternativní formy konzumace televizních obsahů, které jsou distribuovány v prostředí internetu a přijímány prostřednictvím alternativní zobrazovací zařízení (stolní počítač, notebook, tablet, mobilní telefon). Studie vychází ze zahraniční literatury a zasazuje tuto specifickou konzumaci televizních obsahů do kontextu České republiky s cílem odhalit motivace respondentů k tomuto jednání a zachytit jejich přístup k této činnosti. Stěžejní částí této práce je explorativní kvalitativní výzkum. Data k výzkumu byla získána pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s patnácti respondenty a následně analyzována metodou zakotvené teorie. Využívání alternativních zobrazovacích zařízení a internetu přineslo respondentům nové možnosti manipulace s televizními obsahy, zejména jim umožnilo získat vyšší kontrolu nad časem jejich konzumace.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the consummation of TV content in context with ongoing technological innovations. Thesis´s goal is to describe theoretically and empirically the alternative forms of TV content´s consummation which are distributed on the internet and received by alternative receiving devices (computer, notebook, tablet, mobile phone). The study is based on foreign literature and puts this specific consummation of TV content into context of Czech Republic with the goal of revealing respondent´s motivation to this behavior and capturing their approach to this activity. An explorative qualitative research is the key part of this thesis. Data for this research were collected by semi-structured interviews with fifteen respondents and subsequently analyzed with the method of grounded theory. The usage of alternative receiving devices and internet has brought new possibilities of manipulation with TV content to the respondents, especially it has enabled them higher control over the time of its consummation.
